Kitchen remodeling costs are outrageous! Just starting to get this project under way.

And as much as I yearn for those Thomasville cabinets with all the lovely little niches and pull-out drawers, we’re just going to stain ours instead.

For us, the largest part of the expense will be the new appliances.

I totally agree with this article. Kitchen remodeling cost is really expensive these days. we must also consider the fact that kitchen, although the smallest room in the house, it's actually the most expensive to remodel.

Starting with the lighting, going through the process of electricity installation, the flooring, plumbing and cabinets, you spend really huge amounts of money!

Not only this, but when it comes to installing the appliances and doing all the other work, expenses don't stop.

Hi Lee,

The cabinets were taken down on the wall facing into the living room and some were added to the side but the majority of the cabinets are all in the same place but look very different with the refacing done on them....it gives the kitchen a whole new look.

I talk about refacing and much more in my eBook Remodeling Recon Kitchens Edition. If you're planning a kitchen renovation you should check it out...it's a very useful research tool.

You can check it out at: http://www.RemodelingReconKitchenPlans.com

I always wondered what refacing actually meant. Did you add a wall to the kitchen in the photos? It looks like on the right you have wall cabinets whereas before you seemed to have an open area and some stairs. Maybe I'm not seeing it right.

It's not as easy to give up some of those cook accessories you mention but you do have a point there.
